More About Our Colours

Many of our colours are fast drying and show an emmaculate finish. Our main colours have been existence for over twenty years. Both our main and special colours require to be mixed thouroughly before use, preferably on a shaker for three-to five minutes.

Before Silkwood is applied on timber, the wood should be sanded down thoroughly. If old timber is used which has been coated previously, the timber should be also sanded down. If the M7 range is used, the first coat should be diluted with mineral turps in a ratio of 50:50.

The first coat should be dried thoroughly before a second coat is applied.

The M2 range can take longer to dry than our M7 due to our raw materials used. As a result, before applying the timber with a second coat, it is important to ensure the wood has thoroughly been dried when using our M2 range. The timber can have different drying times depending on the colours used. Specials colours do normally take longer to dry than our main colours.

It is recommended that with all our ranges, that the wood should be coated, sealed and dried before installation occurs. I.e wooden doors, garages and window frames and outside decks.

It is recommended that our product should be used sparingly on wooden surfaces.

It is also to mention that different temperatures as well as humidity and rain can affect the drying time of timber after Silkwood has been applied.
